You!

Where are you? Who are you?
Did I accidentally pass you by?

Have I ever seen you in earthly garb?
Doesn't a woman want to show her attire?

Would I recognize you if you sat by me?
Am I pure enough to sense such vibes?

The very thought of you sets me aflutter;
Excitement n' loneliness pulsate at once.

Though I know not your earthly garb,
I know you; miss ya through n' through.

Through the years, I've pictured you,
If you can believe me, a thousand ways.

With almost every passing woman I asked,
Though silently, almost in prayer, "Is it you?"

If this is what I undergo, what do you feel?
I wonder what storms rage your heartscape.

They say that women are more emotional,
That their heartscapes are far more volatile.

So if I am wanting in our Creator's eyes,
I pray that He join us, at least for your sake.

As you must be the more precious of us,
Your dreams n' yearnings deserve fruition.

Tailored for the Soul

The other day, someone asked me how I am coping with having been divorced. I told him that actually it is a simple situation. The Zohar teaches that our bodies are not random. They are tailor made for our souls, our real selves.

This means that a unique set of parents is needed to provide the genetic material necessary to give each soul that precious opportunity to enter the earth realm.

Based on this, it makes sense to me that I was married to my former wife to help the souls of our children embody.

God Willing, now it's time to seek my soul mate.

Ghost Samurai

Long ago, you shed earthly shell,
With mission left incomplete.

You sought to protect the vulnerable,
To feed the needy n' unfortunate.

Those you trained failed you,
They barely followed your ways.

They followed trails of gold,
Dens of pleasurable sensations.

Darkness clouded the earth realm,
Isolating that island from the spirit sea.

In a whirlwind, your spirit descended,
To once again inhabit your armor.

You proceeded to train new samurai,
Ones more upright n' compassionate.

You led the fresh ones into battle,
Against the corrupted old growth.

Your armor took arrows n' spears,
But your spirit was never pierced.

You became the subject of folk legend,
The superhero of graphic novels;

Not only for the wicked you slew,
But for the needy n' unfortunate you tended.

Eventually, your new trainees matured,
Their dedication to the cause assured.

You slipped out of your armor,
And in a storm, arose to the spirit sea.

Remembering a Miracle

Adar is the month of miracles disguised as natural events. It is a good time to remember when God did such miracles for us.

I remember a time when I was invited along for a family trip to Israel. Though the tickets and hotel was covered, my personal spending money was not. I wondered how I would find the money to make the trip spiritually meaningful, as I wanted to visit certain holy people and places.

Sure enough, just one week ahead of the trip something utterly unexpected arrived in the mail, a huge insurance refund covering years of unsuspected premium overpayments. Needless to say, it comfortably covered all my spending needs.

Thank you God.

Sufficiency

You have a God given portion,
Meant to cover all your needs.

If your heart feels the tug of lack,
She pines not for another's share,

For she knows a secret truth;
She knows what's been withheld,

Not someone else's blessings,
But merely a sufficiency of her own.

Pray only for what's originally yours,
For a sufficiency of that gift suffices.

Love Beneath the Crust

I have a feeling,
Yes, a sneaky, sneaky feeling,

That we are sandwiched,
By the yearnings of two great lovers.

Sun extends his giant ray-arms.
Why? Of course...to hug planet earth.

But dark earth can't reciprocate.
Her fiery core is trapped within;

Molten passion shrouded in dense crust,
Her ray-arms remain folded beneath.

Instead, what is she to do,
How can she touch her solar lover?

She dresses herself with trees,
She dons garbs of lush vegetation.

Beautified by her adornments,
His ray-hands temptingly caress them.

With each caress, hands gently rub off,
Turning the vegetation into various greens.

Then she draws his "rubbings" into her lair,
Organic packed, down shafts, out roots, into soil ...

Down below within the subterranean depths,
Lovers finally touch, their lights twine n' blend.

Mystic Maze

The real mystery isn't that the "light" figures into the fabric of Oneness. It’s that the "darkness" does too.[i]
Jewish mysticism weaves and winds itself in the maze of this mystery. Yet for all its immersion, the maze exhibits blocked regions, temporary pockets of terra incognita.[ii]
The measure of the Messiah is in how far along the maze he’s traveled; how familiar he has become with the mystery of "darkness" ~ not only for his own spiritual success, but for the world’s too.[iii]
Moses mostly engaged the mystery of “light”. Often, he was rebuffed for inquiring about the mystery of “darkness”.[iv] Via his deep familiarity with the “light”, he redeemed a nation from within a nation.
The Messiah is different. He works on teasing out a special reserve of highly intense “light”, the sort encased in the belly of “darkness”. Once exposed, the “darkness” is no longer “darkness”. [v]

His methods aim to redeem whole humanity; as all are in need of redemption, mostly from themselves.[vi]
------------O------------
[i] The Creator’s Oneness is seamless and all inclusive, as it has no “outside”. All is contained within Him. This is explained very well in various sections of “Tanya” by Rebbe Shneur Zalman of Liadi.
[ii] For all the available theological/spiritual explanations there are unanswered questions and broken hearts inflicted by tragedy.
[iii] Jewish tradition ascribes to the Messiah the ability to answer the difficult questions. He’s described in Isaiah as being able to judge situations just by his sense of smell. Often an unresolved Talmud argument ends with the word “Teiku”  - which has been explained as an acronym for the “Tishbite (Elijah who heralds the Messiah) will answer the questions and difficulties.”
[iv] A prime example is when he inquired into the martyrdom of Rabbi Akiva or when he wanted the redemption from Egypt to be the final one.
[v] Really there’s only light. Darkness is inverted light or light highly suppressed. I remember reading in Lekutey Moharan of Rebbe Nachman that one day darkness will “vomit” up the sparks of light it has swallowed.
[vi] Most problems people suffer from, whether collectively or individually, are a result of faulty perspective.
