Negotiating Closeness

Tonight, I picked up my boy’s bow and suction tipped arrows. Not being a person of violence, I was surprised at how fascinating I found aiming and releasing arrows. Then I realized that my fascination was not over violence, but, over the human ability to negotiate distances to accurately make contact. While certainly a valuable skill in projectile physics, isn’t this an even more essential skill in communication? And is negotiating distances the only direction this skill set can swing? How about for negotiating closeness?
