Choni: It dawned on me when meditating over the Oneness while reciting "Shema".
Liza: I believe certain sounds contain the (mathematical?) order of Oneness so that saying them is like construction or re-construction of reality... or a ‘bringing into awareness’ of a spiritual truth.
Choni: That's why the first verse of the Shema is Judaism's only ritual recitation which must be absolutely recited in the original Hebrew. Everything else in the prayer book (if necessary) can be recited in any language which the reader fully understands.
